09/01/2000 - New ZSNES anyone? [Posted by Slime]

Big update to version 1.000 oh yeah and some windows port too :D Now to cut paste from the readme file what's new:
-Implemented C4 emulation
-Tweaked ADSR a bit
-Decreased envelope when key on is issued while sound is still playing. This fixed static/popping sound bugs that affected many games.
-Added the ability to select the Add-on device(Snes Mouse/Super Scope) from the GUI through the Add-on option in the Config Menu
-Added a hack to allow the mouse to control the cursor in Lethal Enforcers (Press '7' 4 times to activate or select it from the Add-on option in the Config Menu). Unfortunately, this method has problems (ie. mouse moves things that it shouldn't) but it should be good enough, especially for those who asked for this. I doubt this works in LE2, however.
-Added a manual load entry box so that you can type in the filenames/directories manually or type in part of the filename and the GUI will seek to whichever filename contains or closely contains that part
-Pharos coded a water effect, getting help from Scott Scriven's water effect code.
-You can enable/disable the Water Effect and Snow Effect from the GUI Options (MISC Menu in the GUI)
-Implemented Sprite Windowing to the new gfx 8bit engine. This completes all the features that I have planned for that engine.
-Fixed a really nasty stereo bug that caused volume levels/pans to sound completely off on one of the speakers
-Added player 5 as a normal player instead of just being available in modem/ipx play
-Implemented an option to turn in-game messages/fps display to be transparent
-Added a Set Keys feature to the Input Routines in the GUI that allows you to set all of the standard SNES keys all at once instead of clicking on the inputs separately to set them
-Ported the new graphics 8bit engine to 16bit:
-All the standard snes features from the 8bit engine
-Works with all 16bit resolution modes/effects
-Ported high resolution Mode 7
-Added proper main/sub screen support and windowing support
-Added all transparencies modes
-Added Direct Color Mode7
-2xSaI and 50/75% scanlines can now co-exist with high resolution modes
-This is now the default engine for 16bit. Some games won't work well with this engine such as some SuperFX games (eg. Stunt Race FX in the menus). You can switch back to the old graphics engine by pressing the '8' key.
-Implemented a dual cache system in the tile modes. I don't know how much of a speed increase this gives since my system can already run the old graphics engine at full speed and framerate.
-Full 15bit transparencies for MMX cpus only.
-High Resolution Mode7 can be toggled on/off in the Video Options. It is disabled by default since this feature requires a fast CPU.
-Added 48khz sound sampling rate
-Tweaked VBlank timing a bit
-Tweaked 65816 CPU cycle execution a bit
-Added Kreed's Super 2xSaI engine. It's written in C, so it requires a really fast cpu to run it.
-Added picture preview to the save states in the F3 window. Newly created save states will contain a small picture in them. Pictures will not appear in old save states, however.
Looks like they have been real busy lately. On a sadder note zsKnight is going to be leaving the zsnes team due to life and that kinda stuff.
Go to our Snes Emu Section to get the new zsnes from us or here to get it from the zsnes homepage

09/03/2000 - Super Jukebox version 2.9 is released! [Posted by DarkMazda]

Super Jukebox(SPC Player) version 2.9 has been released!

  • Fixed a bug that prevented Super Jukebox from reading ID666 tags from SPC files that were located in the root directory of a drive.
  • Fixed a bug that made the timer message handler stall every once in a while thereby making the status bar update stall as well.
  • Added a new visualization gauge for the pitch rate parameter of the SPC700/DSP channels. This basically indicates what musical note is playing, but rather graphically.
  • Changed the status bar layout to display some additional information, such as a graphical progress bar for the currently playing song and descriptions for the menu items.
  • Added the ability to switch between buttons with text labels and buttons with pictures. Special thanks to Datschge for designing these bitmaps.
  • Added an option to limit the size of the frequency spectrum for the Spectrometer using a percentage representative of the current sample rate for the player.
  • Made it so that the program settings are saved to the registry every time you close the Configuration dialog box by clicking on OK.
  • Added the ability to hide the window controls, so you can see more of your precious skins.
  • Made it possible to seek to a specific position in the song by moving the mouse over the status time bar and clicking on it, this works both when the song is playing or not. Note, however, that some songs may sound somewhat screwy after you seek in it, but this is a matter of the emulation and is most likely not even a bug. Also note, that due to an apparent bug with Windows (caused by capturing the mouse input), if you have the mouse cursor on the status time bar that the accelerator shortcuts will not work, so just move the mouse off of the status time bar.
  • Added the ability for the installation program to detect which directory the previous installation was installed to and use that as the default choice, of course this won’t work the first time you run it since the last version never saved that information.
  • Added a new Edit With Notepad entry to the Explorer context menu for PL files, since they are just plain text files.
Please download Super Jukebox over at our SPC Players Section.

09/07/2000 - Mimic Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

Wow! An update over at the Mimic's!! :) Here is the post

"Worked on the Gameboy side of things a bit and fixed the opcode E2, which 4 out of 5 documents I have said was a NOP. I also fixed up the background/tile graphics a lot, and the way Mimic talks to a VDP. As you can see it got Marioland working. In order to get this far, I had to add code to fake the joypad. Things look good for including Gameboy in the next release !!!
It won't take much effort to get the joypad working, but the interrupts are going to take a bit of planning to fit them into the Mimic model as generically as possible. "
The screenshot on the page is pretty promising in my opinion. Please visit Mimic's website for more info and the screenshot. Thanks goes to VGN for the news.

09/07/2000 - mIRC version 5.8 is released! [Posted by DarkMazda]

For all of you miRC fans(including me), mIRC version 5.8 has been released to the public!! Here is what is new

  • mIRC now uses it's own internal beep sound for event beeps. To several users it was very anoying that some setting in windows messed up the most simple beeps in mIRC. This should be solved now.
  • The URL's you can click on in mIRC now have their own right-click popup menu.
  • The "No such nick/channel" message is now immediately shown in query windows. You won't be chatting into empty space anymore if somebody decided to leave without telling you.
  • A new channel central dialog displays the ban, exept and invite lists a lot clearer. Also an Edit button has been added for on the fly editing of an address.
  • mIRC now supports mp3 files through the /splay command. Several related events and identifiers are available. With the $mp3(filename) identifier you can look up all kinds of properties like title, artist, length, bitrate, sample mode, etc..
Please visit the mIRC's official website to get the new version!! Thanks goes to the people in #Retrogamers on IRC for the tip.

09/07/2000 - Blue Bomber Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

BlueBomber(Megaman related Site Hosted by Us) has been updated with some news

"22:37 Cody: Sorry about going all psycho about my page before. Thanks to everyone who sent in an e-mail to cheer me up. I won an award! Rockmania sent this one in, thanks a lot! You can see it HERE. I've also added two new sprites to the Sprites Page. Now, this is the area that bothers me the most. I only ask for you guys to NOT directly link to my images. Some of you don't get that. If it continues, I WILL shut down the page. Sorry, but that's the only way to stop it. All the ROMS are uploaded, it's just Driveway hasn't sent me the guest access URL to them. I'll work on that, and hopefully all ROMS should be back up in under a week."
Cody: Great job on the website keep it up!! Don't let anything let you down!! Please visit Bluebomber today :)

09/07/2000 - iMAME version 04 is released! [Posted by DarkMazda]

iMAME (Windows CE) version 04 has been released! Here is what is new

  • More Drivers! Many, many will not work yet though, such as: stuff with pokey, stuff with vector, games in the mappy driver, and on and on.
  • Do some cleanup in osd_exit...there's probably more, but we really need to find out what is leaking or whatever and causing the game to crawl after repeated usage of iMame.
  • For the desktop, use SetDIBColorTable to put colors in the DIBsection instead of needing to run osd_obtain_pen before running osd_create_display (the former approach required change to mame.c)
  • Found the problem with using the osd_bitmap structure....osd_create_bitmap was only allocating "height-1" which caused Windows to trash us when freeing tmpbitmap from vidhrdw/generic.c (need to allocate "height-0").
  • Add WIN32 to preprocessor defines so that Mame.c will compile correctly.
  • Copied "run_game()" to win32.c so that I wouldnt' have to change "main()" to "run_game()" in Mame.c
  • When clipping, drawgfx() we were sometimes getting the dreaded "Application mame27ce.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down." This was caused by writes to "out of clip rect" that are not multiples of 4, such as -2. The drawgfx() then tries to read an int from the source graphic array at an offset of 2, which ARM won't permit. In "common.c", the problem line is marked with this comment // GN: TEST (unaligned access, get out!)So far, DigDugAt and Mpatrol have shown up this problem...If I get to looking more at the graphics engine, then we will see what we can do to fix this correct
  • Very odd problem observed with frogger...it would only get 30FPS...couldn't figure it out, finally found that it ran at full speed when I left out several drivers and other files from the build: freakin strange
  • Fixed a bug in the AY8910 and PSG code whereby PSG was mistakenly allocating its own buffers, but then
Please pick it up over at the iMAME's website.

09/07/2000 - Sintendo Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

Sintendo's website has been updated with some news

"I've made a couple of giant leaps in the development of the emulation core in the last 24 hours. The Snes9x source now compiles and links fully to the code I've already written. I've begun writing the interface and it now (properly?) initializes Snes9x and even loads a ROM into memory. At this point, it seems to load ChronoTrigger just fine, but doesn't load Final Fantasy III (perhaps beause its a .FIG). I've got it as far as to almost display something (anything) on the screen, but that will require some work. I'm quiting for the day, satisfied with what I've accomplished, but I'm sure I'll play with it more tommorrow.

This is all, of course, only running on the PC right now. I know that my code runs fine on the Dreamcast, but who knows what problems I'll run into when I finally get some running code and burn it to a disk. I'm expecting this part to take some time. I am very glad, however, that I finally managed to get over the hump that was holding me back for so long... "
Sintendo is a SNES emu for the DC! Please visit them over at http://sintendo.dcwarez.com/.

09/07/2000 - EmuForce not dead! [Posted by DarkMazda]

[D]J from EmuForce has updated EF with some news on the new EmuForce

"Yep, I'm still working on the new EmuForce layout, I know it's taking a lot of time, sorry, but I'm not satisfied with it yet, I mean with what I've designed since now. You know.. I really like a lot the current EmuForce design and I'd like to keep it forever but I think it's time to change it cause is almost 1 year old now (hey October 26th is EF's first birthday!). And I wanna do something revolutionary for the new EF layout, something great so that people can say once again "Wow, that's amazing!". "
If you wanna read the rest of the post. Please visit EmuForce

09/07/2000 - FPSE Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

FPSE's website has been updated with some new progress!

  • FPSE will be released for Win32, AmigaOS, Linux (Intel and
  • AlphaRISC), MSDos and BeOS.
  • Yeah! Finally I have found a good coder for BeOS, so if you are an
  • user of this OS, then BE happy!
  • Yes, I'm working with another author for improving our emulators.
  • I don't know when it will be released, we'll make a mega-release when
  • all Operating systems will be ready.
  • Certainly, they won't be released tomorrow.
  • The SDK isn't changed, so if you are writing a plugin, it will work
  • on 0.09 too.
  • BTW, I hope SDK never needs to be changed, even when FPSE 1.0 will be finished.
  • I think FPSE sources will be released again, but remember: it's
  • simple to use our sources in your emulator, but it's simple to close
  • FPSE too.
  • My language is italian, so if I have done some mistakes it's normal.
Please visit FPSE's website for more info :)

09/07/2000 - Gens .81 released [Posted by Slime]

09/07/2000 - PCSX build 0.5.240 is released! [Posted by DarkMazda]

PCSX(PSX Emu) build 0.5.240 has been released to the public today!!

The day we kept promising the months before, has come! The release build is ready and waiting to be tested in the files page. There you'll find all the necessary files, plugins, and the readme.txt (please read it carefully). The emulator needs the bios file to run, the scph1001.bin in particular, which you won't find in this site for usual copyright reasons. WIthout it, Pcsx will crash, so please don't bombard us with e-mails telling us about this 'bug'! :) To find demos to download and run, visit the screenshots page, we have about 100 of running ones! Also, for running commercial games, see the compatibility page.
If you wanna see the compatibility list and stuff!! Please visit PCSX's website. Please download PCSX from our PSX Emu Section.

09/07/2000 - SSF Compatability Page. [Posted by DarkMazda]

EmuSaturn has been updated couple of times with the SSF Compatability Page.. It shows you what games work and don't. Here is the post I saw over at EmuSaturn

"Okay, with all this frenzy over the excellent release of SSF v0.04 alpha r3, i've compiled a list of known games that run or don't run. Please note that by saying they run doesn't mean they are fully playable, it just means the you can see them and hear them. Some are playable like Daytona USA, but SSF is very slow at the moment (average of 6fps anyone?). But hey, who cares! You can finally play Saturn games on your PC via emulation!!"
Please visit EmuSaturn to check out the list for SSF. Thanks goes to Logical- for the E-mail.

09/07/2000 - Challange Games Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

CG has been updated couple of times today with a new look!! Yay!! New DMD Look, then CG new look :) I also saw an update about the ZeldaC(Zelda Challange), here is the post

"For the past few months, I've been designing a "just for me" program that edits the dungeons of Zelda. I say "edits" loosely, because its output is a list of hex values for me to type in via Hexposure. And I say "just for me" because while it works perfectly, the ins and outs would elude users other than myself. (you have to know Excel VBA really well) Anyway, I finished this program a few weeks ago and now I'm already up to the 7th dungeon of the first quest. Levels 1 through 6 have been finalized.

Having spent so much time in the "underworld", I thought I'd wander the overworld and enjoy the "fresh air", remembering all the secrets and scenery. And then it hit me that for at least 4 months now, there have been NO monsters to terrorize the "Outlands", at all! It's easy to forget this minor detail when you've been zapping yourself to all the different dungeon entrances without ever walking there. (by changing the start-out screen every time I'm working on a different dungeon)

Now that the overworld is almost as dangerous as the underworld, there are no major tasks left to complete besides the dungeons. The overworld is even fully functional in the 2nd quest! So, 12 more dungeons to plan out and put in, and the game will be ready to play. Since there will (hopefully) only be one release of this game, it will have to be thoroughly beta tested before I release it. That will take some time, since the (already selected) beta testers will be playing through it for the first time.

I'm sure I won't make the "Sept. 30" tentative release date I had posted a while back, but if school doesn't get in the way too quickly, it should be ready sometime in October. I've decided against changing the music in the game, so that's one less thing I have to do. Maybe some more slight graphics changes, but nothing major.

This has been a six month project so far, seven months if the game is released in October. All this time I've been rushing in here night after night, taking the ROM apart, learning everything about it I can, and changing almost everything imaginable. And if just one person enjoys the results, it's all worth it."
Please visit Challange Games today for more info on their hacks and challanges :)

09/07/2000 - MAME32 Q/A Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

MAME32 Q/A website has been updated with some MAME32 news!

"Michael provided the first official internal build of b7, testing commences. Update: Pri. 1 test case pass of Michael's first build, successful. Only failures are DOS related overlay issues, and the still present history.dat display problem. Support.htm submitted. Currently the Gal's pinball games are not displaying properly, being stretched out of aspect ratio. We all know how important those are to get working. "
Please visit MAME32 Q/A today :)

09/08/2000 - Jagulator Updates~! [Posted by DarkMazda]

Jagulator's website has been updated with some news

" Welcome back to the Jagulator project site :) Its been quite a while since this site was last updated or even active for that matter but that does not mean that the project has been lying totally dormant since then (although much of my time has been spent working on UltraHLE and work/family commitments). I have to admit that I was surprised to see that Jaguar emulation does not seem to have broken through yet even with the three projects I know of on the go (Jagulator, EmuJag and JagBag).
In between making my plans for emmigration to Canada I will be spending a bit of time on this project to hopefully get it advanced further that it already is. You will see from the Status page that it has been advancing slowly over the last 6 months or so and I intend to continue this progressive development. UltraHLE has been put on hold until the new year now as I simply don't have time to work on all my projects and my move."
Hope you do good in Canada RealityMan!! Please visit Jagulator today :)

09/08/2000 - MAME Target Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

MAME Target's website has been updated with some news

  • - Removed games added in 37b7, as well as a few mistaken game entries.
  • - Updated all existing manufacturer pages except the Psikyo page. In particular, made major modifications to the Miscellaneous A through C page and added a number of games of dubious authenticity to the Banpresto page.
  • - Added pages for Centuri, Century Electronics, Chicago Coin/Stern, Cinematronics/Vectorbeam/Leland, and UPL.
  • Interesting tidbit: One entry I removed from the A through C page was the "A Nektarios Iglessic Company" entry for "Europlay Touch and Play". It turns out that Europlay is a Greek company that released a number of games written in Visual Basic for coinop-converted PCs. I hope to get a list of these games soon and make a "Europlay" section in the Miscellaneous D through F page (but said page might take a while to put together...).
Please visit MAME Targets today. Thanks goes to MAMEWorld for the tid bit :D

09/08/2000 - MAMELang32 version 0.37b7 is released! [Posted by DarkMazda]

MAMALang32 verison 0.37b7 has been released! Here is the post

"After an entrire beta version without ML32 (hope you miss a bit), ML32 .37b7 is out, thanks to Guisep's Mame32 SS source code. So, the Screen Saver options are included in ML32, you still need the M32SS, but you could add or remove games from the SS folder.
Japanese .lst was updated to b6, surely soon will have news from Shii Takeshi.
Several changes are made on ML32 .lng files, they share the Mame official .lng structure (it means you could use with DOS or Linux official Mame), but adding some old mamelang translated strings. But this is not the final structure, more optimizations will be made in next beta versions. Beacause of that, the only new .lng file that is ready is the spanish one, in next days, other translation files will be ready."
Please download MAMELang32 from our MAME Emu Section. Thanks goes to NanoMicroMan for the E-mail.

09/08/2000 - MAME WIP Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

Here is a Big MAME WIP Update!!

  • 8th September 2000: Mike Haaland added an alternative mazes version of NATO Defense. Aaron Giles sent in a new TMS34010 core with a few bugfixes, and finally officially sent the Hard Drivin' / S.T.U.N. Runner driver. The latter is perfect, while the former suffers from no sound and a nasty bug causing the car physics go out of control after a crash. Also included was a preliminary Race Drivin' driver, which unfortunately goes weird as soon as the simulation begins. Aaron also added a new debugger feature to compare CPU core timings. Nicola Salmoria fixed the Return of Invaders driver to use the 68705 emulation correctly instead of relying on a protection hack.
  • 7th September 2000: Stephane Humbert added dip switches to the PlayChoice 10 driver. Phil Stroffolino sent in the Namco NA-1 driver, still supporting Cosmo Gang the Puzzle, Tinkle Pit and Emeraldia. Andrea Mazzoleni fixed a memory trashing bug in the cheat system.
  • 6th September 2000: Brad Oliver fixed a small bug in the CCPU core. Jürgen Buchmüller wrote a helpful tool for adding new CPU cores.
  • 5th September 2000: Manuel Abadia fixed some of the priority problems in Big Karnak. Ernesto Corvi and Nicola Salmoria wrote a driver for Buggy Challenge, though a lot of it is still preliminary. Mike Greve added two new revisions of Mortal Kombat 2 to the T-Unit driver.
  • 4th September 2000: Nicola Salmoria fixed a bug in the C 68k core which affected Zwackery.
  • 3rd September 2000: Brad Oliver sent in yet another dirty functions' update. Bryan McPhail fixed an internal timer bug in the Hu6280 core.
  • 2nd September 2000: Nicola Salmoria fixed a 6309 bug which affected Fast Lane and Double Dragon. Brad Oliver abstracted the dirty handling from Centipede and sped up Atari Tetris.
  • 1st September 2000: Mathis Rosenhauer further implemented the integration of backdrop functions to the artwork functionality. Phil Stroffolino sent in a tilemap update with largely reworked internals, so not many games work with it yet. Jürgen Buchmüller sent in a huge CPU core update with a lot of new CPU cores included.
Please visit MAME WIP Page for screenshots :

09/08/2000 - CPS-2 Shock WIP Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

CPS2-Shock WIP updates with some news!

I managed to place a small piece of my own 68k code (non encrypted) into the CPS-2 systems screen memory. To my disbelieve the code ran perfectly on forcing the main processor to execute it, I've confirmed it to.
    • The 68k CPU runs on standard 68k instructions. Not so custom after all?
    • Only CPU fetches from ROM are encrypted, fetches from RAM are not.
    • This makes it highly likely that decryption takes place between CPU and ROM and not inside the CPU itself.
I'm now thinking about possible exploits I can use by inserting and executing my own code, I'm still getting numbers using the EEPROM emu too, more soon.
Please visit CPS-2 Shock today :)

09/08/2000 - more updates, radarnes 0.3 and nester [Posted by DtK]

Well I just finished updating the NES emulator page, probably the most tedious too and I fixed a few broken links, missing files and of course updated to any more current versions. Along the lines I found radarnes 0.3 which was released on 8/26 and I found a new nes emulator called nester.

nester (not NESter) is a windows nes emulator that supports mappers 0,1,2,3,4,7,9,40 and is quite decent, give it a try, also the homepage is here: http://nester.homepage.com
Enjoy..

CyRUS64 has gladly given us some more information and screenshots of Boob!boy his Gameboy emulator for the Dreamcast here is what he had to say:

"it is still fairly temperamental but at this very moment i'm downloading some pics from my camcorder of it running on a tv for any of you doubters :-)
my current problem is that i try and be too clever and achieve too much between dreamcast tests, and the dc hangs on the menu screen if anything is slightly wrong. it also seems to take quite a long time to load the rom using the readfile function but at the moment i dont know why cuz the rom is only 500k.
ill update the emulator page soon with lots of info about this emulator."

09/11/2000 - WinSTon updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

WinSTon's WIP Page has been updated with some news.. here is a snap

"have seen reports of TOS 1.06 and TOS 1.62 not working on the latest version of WinSTon. I took a quick look through my debugger, which is in a state of 'repair' as I still have not finished it, and saw that the TOS accessed an illegal ST address(0xff8900) only a few instructions into the ROM. This address was an STe only location, and games such as Wings Of Death use these locations to cause bus-errors and find out which machine they are running on. So perhaps, it seemed, that only certain addresses in this range caused a bus-error? After trying a simple test on my ST it seemed that a read/write to 0xff8900 did cause a bus error, which meant that the TOS rom could not work! I referred to the TOS documents and then found the answer. TOS 1.06 and 1.62(the follow-up to 1.06) were ONLY used on an STe. As WinSTon only emulates a standard STfm these ROM were not meant to work in the first place! As the emulation was getting more accurate these 'features' were coming up. So, you cannot use TOS 1.06/1.62 in a real STfm so neither can you use them in WinSTon. TOS 2.06 was better written and checked for the machine it was run on so this works fine."
Wanna read the whole WIP? Please visit WinSTon's WIP Page :D

DeJap's website has been updated with some news

"Besides the entirely new site layout, this major update includes new downloadable patches for DQ6 and ToP, plus information on all the other projects we have been working on. Please email us if you would like to have your site linked from here or if you want to host our patches on your page.

Also, we'd like to thank everyone who e-mailed us with positive feedback about the Tales of Phantasia project. As many of you know, the past few weeks have been very discouraging because of a group who called themselves Lame Translations had posted an older ToP patch of ours and called it their own. A big screw-you goes out to all those lamers alike who believe in ripping off other people's hard work and those who think we're just selfishly holding on to the patch.

To answer many of your questions: The Tales of Phantasia translation has not been dropped. Please be patient, we've had little time in the past few months to work on it and we might be slow answering e-mails about it. "
Please visit DeJap's website for more info :D

I was checking out the specs for the Colecovision, last night, when I noticed that they were almost identical to the Sega Master System. I figured I would try out making a HWC and...well...the pic speaks for itself.
FYI: This HWC is only 15 lines of text!!!
No games running yet, but the BIOS looks good. The VDP (a TMS9928) is basically the same as that of the SMS only a little more complex in that it has multiple video modes and such.

As a side note: This is a busy week for me with one contract (P&O) ending and the hunt for a new one starts (I have a meeting with IBM on 14/9). Add to this my birthday (also on the 14/9) and the olympics starting just down the road on the 15/9, well, I may not get much done at all, until next week. "

09/13/2000 - New PSX emu in town!! [Posted by DtK]

Hey I get to bring you news of ePSXe a new playstation emulator for you PC in the works right now! Here is the post from the website constructed...today, recognize the authors? I do.

"Hello world!

We are calb, Galtor and _Demo_. We have been working on ePSXe (a new playstation emulator) during the last 6 months now. Currently the emulator is starting to look nice and the release should be soon :-)) The emulator supports some commercial games, has sound, mdec and memory cards support. It also uses the psemupro plugins for enhanced the graphics :-), which are really nice when used with a good video card.
You will need a playstation bios image to run the emulator, we can't give you this file because it is copyrighted by sony, anyway if you own a playstation, then you have legal right to use his internal software and you can get this file from some different site.
We have put 75 snaps from 8 different games in the screenshots section, so you can see the actual status of the emulator."

Oh and from the FAQ section:
"Question: When will be the emulator release?

Answer: Actually some features are under development and it will takes some days before of the first release."

Well you can check out the ePSXe site at http://www.epsxe.com. Give it a look it looks very promising!

09/13/2000 - Back 2 Roots News!!! [Posted by DarkMazda]

Bobic + Hippie2000 has e-mailed me with a HUGE update on Back2Roots!! Here is the whole email

    "Hello Dark Mazda's Domain maintainers,

today we want to give you a good example, that "Back to the Roots" (http://www.back2roots.org) is international, that this site is something for everyone on this planet, for every nation. It doesn't matter which language you speak. Everyone who's interested in Amiga, Amiga emulation or the Demo Szene, can find something for his pleasure there.

The spanish company Aventuras AD. has allowed us to upload their text-adventure games "La Aventura Original" and "La Diosa de Cozumel". From the danish games developer ITE Media comes the funny "Hugo" game. The french company Lankhor has provided us with the english and german version of their classic adventure "Mortville Manor" and the good looking game "Black Sect". And as a special surprise we can present you the full working english CD32 version
of "Beneath a Steel Sky" for a free download! And as always we have mentioned only some of the new games here.

We will never forget the demos scene. We like this stuff too much, therefore we've added some cool Amiga500 demos from Scoopex and Spaceballs, which were made in the year 2000! Also some classic Amiga 500 and 1200 demos were included - some of them from the promising group "Reason", which are located in the czech republic. Some good (PC) productions from the Evoke2000 can also be downloaded from BTTR, now.

Music freaks will find many excellent modules from Jesper Kyd and Blue Silence online, together with game music by Hannes Seifert or Nick Jones. Of course mods from other musicians are available, too, like a mod-remix of the famous Monkey Island 2 music. And picture fans can view some masterpieces from Nomad, Flood, Acryl and others or can browse through some new added screenshots of famous Amiga games.

And that's it again, for today. Have fun with the new files!"

09/13/2000 - Some Notes on ClrMAMEPro [Posted by DarkMazda]

ClrMAMEPro's website has been updated with some Notes on the ClrMAME Pro 1.8

  • When using the MAME or the MAME DATFILE engine you should see 3 systems (Standard, NeoGeo, Nintendo Playchoice 10) in the scanner and the rebuilder ! If you only see "Standard" you should remove the file "_last.cmp" and restart ClrMamePro.
  • The progressbar doesn't work properly when doing a fastscan....Don't worry....It looks a bit weird but the scanner works correctly...It's just a display problem.
Please visit ClrMAME Pro.
