12/01/2000 - DCPSX News [Posted by DtK]

Remember that PSX emulator for your DC I had mentioned. Well the site was updated recently with some news on the progress of the emulator. Here is what Kami had to say:

"Sorry for lack of updates. I've had 3 papers that I needed to write. Anyways here's how things are going I got an email from infector saying his new code can run two games at limited speed and the graphics are quite a bite off. I'll be posting some screens when I can but right now everything is kinda going to hell. As is I've got 4 webpages to design so I can have some money for christmas presents for the family and friends. Yet I will continue to work on the emu but with limited progress. Also Infector and I have decided that we will release once a game is fully playable. but that doesn't mean it'll take a while. Keep checking back!"
Notice how he says it may not take a while =) Good news indeed. Take a look at the DCPSX homepage for more info.

12/02/2000 - SNEeSe 0.55 [Posted by DtK]

Well this formerly recently active SNES emulator has been quite these past few weeks and sees the light of day again. Looks like a very worthwhile SNEeSe release for it implements a lot of sound changes including noise generation. Here is what's new:

  • Sound: Many changes to volume envelope timing
  • Sound: Corrected synchronization of sound mixing and volume envelope generation
  • Sound: Implemented noise generation
  • Sound: Changed sound to use a double-buffering method - sound may skip on slower systems
You can pick up both the binary and source to this release on our SNES Emu Page.

12/02/2000 - DreamGBC v0.6 [Posted by DtK]

Well I know this has been busy lately and I want to throw my apology out there for not posting this sooner. Here it is. DreamGBC, is a Gameboy/Gameboy color emulator that's sole intent is to emulate all the Gameboy carts while adding some special features the handheld doesn't have. So far it's doing nicely. Here is what's new in this release:

  • Fixed a noise channel frequency bug
  • Fixed some logical sound bugs
  • Added emulator configuration function to the ROM Loader
  • Emulate the colorization when play classical GB cart on a GBC(1 palette availiable for now)
  • Support multiple resolution(up to 1024*768)
  • Zooming function(1X-4X)
  • 100% Scanline mode selectable
Nice new features!! Pick up DreamGBC on our Gameboy emu page.

12/02/2000 - Where is Sintendo? [Posted by DtK]

No where not looking for some funny guy in a striped shirt. I'm looking for the Sintendo homepage formerly at http://sintendo.dcwarez.com. This now directs to the dcwarez homepage with a link on the sidebar for Sintendo now missing. If anyone knows what has happened or of a relocation please send me an email. Thanks.

12/02/2000 - GENSX Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]
GENSX's website has been updated after 2 months of absence!!! Here is the post

"I'm not doing very well at updating the news pages. But, at least this time I've been steadily working on the emulator since the last update. So, what have been up to? (besides playing Shenmue, and oooh, I have Skies of Arcadia, Jet Grind Radio, and Grandia II all waiting for me.. I really need more free time. Though I did find some time to lie on the beaches of Cancun for a week... )

I've finished phase 1 of rewriting the the 68000 core. Along with a complete rewrite of the Genesis memory systems, the emulator is running faster. While rewriting the memory systems, I discovered several bugs and some long out-standing problems have been fixed. Best of these is the sound seems to be fixed. Every game I know of with sound problems seems to work correctly. There have been a lot of little problems fixed such as games with missing sprites and priority problems. On the 32X side of things, I'm rewriting the SH2 core in assembly and I'm showing some improvement in framerates. And for those keeping score, no, I have not started working on Sega CD support yet.

On projects other than Gensx, NBA2K1 is now shipping (I helped on this for about 2 months) and my own pet project was officially unveiled at Sega Gamers day. I've been working on this game forever and it's nearly finished!"
OoOoO!!! Please visit GENSX's website.

12/02/2000 - ****POKEMON GOLD EDITOR**** [Posted by che]

I have finally uploaded my Pokémon Gold editor! It is 90%-95% finished. msvbvm60.dll is required to run the program because I got vb6.0

Please visit my page!

12/02/2000 - ****POKEMON GOLD EDITOR**** [Posted by che]

It is almost finished (90-95)! I have uploaded it because I don't plan on working on it much soon. The only thing left is In-Battle, Pokédex, All Key Items, and Red Gyrados! Hope this works for everyone because it takes up a lot of memory. I could make a version like "Ogre Battle Light" later on, but not right now. Also, msvbvm60.dll is required to run this because I got Visual Basic 6.0!

Please visit my page! and download it!

12/03/2000 - MAME Wip Update *more* [Posted by DtK]

I was looking through the post's on DMD and I noticed that DM missed a little (it's all good though) bit of the MAME WIP news from Nov. Here is the whole update:

  • 2nd December 2000: Aaron Giles sent in the first version of his Strata / Incredible Technologies driver with support for Wheel of Fortune, Golden Tee Golf, Golden Tee Golf II, Peggle, Hot Shots Tennis, Rim Rockin' Basketball and Ninja Clowns.

  • 30th November 2000: Ernesto Corvi fixed a bug in the 2105 interrupt model. Shiriru submitted a huge Cave driver update with fixed zooming effect and sprite decoding of Esprade.
  • 29th November 2000: Olivier Galibert sent in a huge Xexex driver update with a lot better graphics emulation, some sound-related and other fixes, however alpha blending layers are still not emulated. Yochizo fixed the Syvalion emulation speed.
  • 28th November 2000: Phil Stroffolino sent in Mr. Flea driver again synced against the current source tree. Keith Wilkins sent in a discrete sound system update, fixing some sounds in Asteroids.
  • 27th November 2000: Stefan Jokisch submitted a fix for Rainbow Islands secret room bug caused by incomplete C-chip simulation.
  • Peter Trauner fixed several issues in the i86 CPU core and sent in a preliminary version of runtime driver loading support, allowing drivers and CPU and sound cores to be loaded separately from the executable when needed. Guru added a hacked romset to the 1942 driver.
There you go. Be sure to check out the page for numerous screenshots. And not to speculate but MAME tends to be released around the beginining of the month. My estimate is a week or so, but it's a guess ;)

12/03/2000 - Yape 0.26 [Posted by DtK]

More cryptic happenings of the world of N64 emulator, UltraHLE. First, thanks to EmuHQ for this one. RealityMan had slightly updated the UltraHLE page with this: "If NGN knew so would you."

It is no longer there from what I can tell..he also added another ad banner under his mario shockwave thing but I don't think that means anything. Let's hope to see more from this.

"Had a spare hour, so I took a look at the SystemE. I worked out where the start buttons are. They repeat, or are different from one game to another, what I have done works OK. I also tweaked the memory system a bit more, but the test modes still look like crap.
The pic on the left is Riddle in-game :)
PS: Look at the 2 pics from 30/11. Now, how could anyone misread the right one as "Hang On Jr" ??? I think some people need some seriously thick glasses :) "

12/04/2000 - U64Emu Update - Sound! [Posted by DtK]

Well we all know by now that RCP was working on sound for U64Emu and here is his latest:

"Guess who just tested the new version of U64Emu with sound! Anyway bugs are being fixed right and left and its sounding great. RCP is looking for an icon for U64Emu so if you have any please email them to me at bwb@emuhq.com! More news soon!"
Sounds good to me ;) We'll keep you updated. Oh and then I noticed this over at EmuHQ:
"and guess who else just tried it out and noticed scanlines support. >:) Too cool! Rcp mentions in the GUI that you'll need a fast 'puter' to pull this off, but I'm sure there are at least a handful of you with fast computer systems that can enjoy this right away! Also, sound works for me just fine (although scratchy), but the main thing is this newly added sound support didn't slow the emu down as much as you'd expect. :-) I lost maybe 10fps - that's it! Much testing left to do..."

12/04/2000 - UltraHLE News confirmation [Posted by DtK]

Well I want to thank EmuHQ once again. The recent updates at ultrahle.com have caused a lot of question. Many including myself had wondered if they had a hidden meaning of some sort, well now you know:

"Wondering about the recent UltraHLE.com updates? Well here is the final update I got after talking to RealityMan. RealityMan will sign any update on UltraHLE.com in the future with his name. If his name isn't on it the update then its not news."
Basically what this is saying is that there has been no news..yet.

12/04/2000 - Modeler - First System32 Emu Ever! [Posted by DtK]

System32 fans rejoice. Arcade fans rejoice. Very few emulator releases (nowadays) really change something, but I feel this will. Introducing Modeler the first ever System32 emulator. As you see the link leeds to impactemu.com (which oddly enough about an hour ago still had those screenshots). Unfortunately this comes with bad news, read:

"I've decided to finally release the emulator since I have completely dropped its development. Even if noone seems
to have doubted it, this was a serious project. I know that there are many people awaiting the arrival of a working
system32 emulator, and this was the further attempt ever made. I am really sorry but I have no time to continue
    its development.

Along with this release, I'm sending sources to a very talented emu programmer, who is attempting to continue this.
If he will drop, sources will be released."
And now the good news:
  • Golden Axe 2 - PLAYABLE
  • Spiderman - BADLY PLAYABLE
  • Super Visual Football - SHOWS INTRO, NOT WORKING
  • Sonic The Arcade - SHOWS SOMETHING, NOT PLAYABLE
  • RAD Mobile - SHOWS SOMETHING, NOT PLAYABLE
So this is the first Golden Axe 2 emulator (to my knowledge)! Stinks that the original author isn't continuing it but lets hope this "very talented coder" picks it up..

You can pick this up on our Multi-Arcade Emu Page.

12/04/2000 - DreamGBC 0.8 [Posted by DtK]

    New in 0.8:
  • Fixed a background transparency bug.Now Megaman4&YuuYuu-3 have correct title
  • Timer constant adjusted.TENCHIWOKURAU's graphics shows correctly
  • Fixed a timer frequency setting bug. Many games(AMIDA/Castlevania Adv,etc) work with correct sound speed
  • Added support to MBC5,many GameBoy Color carts run on GB mode now!
You can pick up DreamGBC on our Gameboy Emu Page.

12/05/2000 - New FPSE Plugin! [Posted by DarkMazda]

FPSE's website has been updated with a new FPSE Plugin like they said! Here is the post

"Today we have released a new SPU plugin coded by BERO.

It uses Windows Media API for playing sound.
Since it's a work-in-progress plugin, some feature are missing; on my
PC (486DX33) I've got a decent sound only at 11025 Hz, but if you have
a better machine you can use higher frequency.
Little tip if have more than one wave device and you don't know what is
the best one: this plugin will add the following lines in FPSE.INI:

    [SPUWAVE]
    DeviceID=
    SampleRate=

Ok, if you modify by hand device ID number to -1, you will force a
search of the best wave device (the default WAVE_MAPPER for the coders)."
Please download it over at FPSE's website.

12/05/2000 - NeoPocott Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

NeoPocott's website has been updated with a NeoPocottPC Update! Here is what is planned in NeoPocottPC

  • Add a frame counter (to validate speed and find what could be optimized)
  • Rewrite all input/gfx stuff using the GAPI (Pocket PC Game API), some sort of DirectX for PocketPC
  • Add keyboard/input support
  • Make the emulator a bit prettier ;-)
  • In the same time, create a dedicated web site with the help of a PocketPC design guy
They also say there will no NeoPocott for the Palm OS but there might be a suprise for the people owning a Palm! :D Please visit NeoPocott

12/05/2000 - FreezeSMS Updates [Posted by DarkMazda]

FreezeSMS's website has been updated also with some news!

" Ah, isn't the internet great... I can still update my webpage halfway across the country :0. Anyways, I can still check my email so that is good, there hasn't been that many complaints about the latest version except for some tiny bugs. So I guess you guys think its alright then? :P.
I've had some 'non programming' time to think about the direction I want to take FreezeSMS, its always good to just not work on a project for a while (well I'm forced to not work on it since my source code is at home :P). I think for the next version I will make it so that the first SMS file in a zip file is the file which is used, and also allow the user to select directories where they want the save staves, save ram, and temp stuff to go. Also before I release the version with the 'secret' feature, I will release another version which will basically make the emulator itself rock solid, ie Plays nearly all SMS games and has great sound. That will be hopefully around Christmas or new year. Speakin' of which , hasn't 2000 gone quick? Maybe its cos im getting older :P.
What else to say.... oh yeah, some people have asked to do some foreign language translations for FreezeSMS, so I will probably include some way to do that, possibly how GENS does it.
I tried FreezeSMS on this machine (cyrix 166, crap video, crap sound) and it got ~70fps in fullscreen without sound. Seems like if you have a crap sound card and/or video card it creates some bottlenecks, but its good that even a shitty old cyrix 166 (which has the FPU of a pentium 90) can run FreezeSMS fullspeed.
Ok enough crap now, any of my visitors of this webpage live in Adelaide? If so, a hi goes out to you crazy mofo's (I swear there is so many weird people in the streets over here). Catchaz "
I guess the FreezeSMS is runs full speed on a "crappy" pc so there should be plenty of people that will be using it!! Please visit FreezeSMS today/.

12/05/2000 - Apollo64 Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

Apollo64's website has been updated with some news.. it looks like Azimer is working on a NES Emulator with couple of other people!! That sounds pretty good! Here is the post

"The time has come to come out of the closet... No... I am not gay. Worse. I am a NES Emu coder. lol. Just kidding but it caught your attention. I am doing a NES emu with a few guys and you can check it out here. It'll be fun. I will be doing the sound on the system. Hopefully trying to get it perfect. Speaking of sound... Did you HEAR WIP4 of TR64? WONDERFUL... hahaha... (as Mario says it). I guess I can quit beating around the bush. The status of Apollo is as follows. Phrodide has left the project for good. He has left the emulation scene and he has left me in sole custody of the project. He is also going to give me his v64jr if I attend his wedding *laughs*. Like I wouldn't try to make it in the first place pfft. :) You might be "sadden" by this, but I have left Apollo long ago. Over a week now. I am on TR64's team now... I won't say much about what I am doing but it's been great so far. Lets see... Oh yes... Apollo :) Apollo lives on! I will keep working on it. Of course my two new projects take priority. Now for a little recap of a post a tried to make so many times and to bring closure and perhaps a "tribute" to Phrodide contribution to my coding experiences.... I met Phrodide long ago when I was working in the moonlitcoalition on snesrise. 64bit was the "leader" but he was nothing more then a webmaster. Phrodide was there once in awhile but he was pretty much quitting sunset by the time I joined in August. I just finished my NES emulator (unreleased) and I wanted to take on new challenges. I worked for a long time and then I was approached by 64bits asking me if I think they should fire Phrodide from the project. I didn't care since I didn't know Phrodide that well... but that night or soon after I really got to meet him for the first time. We sat in a channel and decided to construct a new N64 emulator which would rival that of UltraHLE. We didn't get far. We coded until February when our team of 4 dwindled down to a team of 2. Phrodide and I disposed of the faulty emulator and constructed Apollo from its ashes. Today, it's better then that old emulator will ever be. It's all my work... it's all Phrodide's work. And now here I am... I learned SO MUCH from Phrodide, and I am truly grateful he gave me a chance one year ago to be part of that N64 emulation dev. team. Without his guidance, I would have not known how to do anything more then creating a CFB only N64 emulator. Phrodide is a good friend to me. I will miss his online presence and my phone bill will be outrageous. thanks for all the good times man :) btw, schibo... they would have know sooner or later anyhow... I have an illness I can use as an excuse for murdering lamers :)"
If you wanna see what the NES Emu is about.. Please visit This page. Visit Apollo64 :D

12/06/2000 - Hu-Go version 1.99 release! [Posted by DarkMazda]

Hu-Go(TG16 Emu) version 1.99 has been released!! Whoa!! they made a big jump from 1.29 to 1.99!! Here is what is new

"This one doesn't feature a lot of new functionnality but a BIG ONE !!! :)
A new kernel have been implemented and justify the jump to version 1.99.
Why not 2.0 ? err, there's still a couple of thing to finish :) Bios hooking and save/load feature.
Apart this, you'll be able to enjoy a faster Hu-Go! and clean kernel sources.
About the licence which should change, I'm still thinking about it... GPL seems not to be possible (I'm using non GPL lib and so will do a porter...) so I'll looking for a more flexible licence still keeping the whole sources unstolable :)

From now on, I'll try to finish the stuff to let me release the 2.0 version and then tackle a new interface (gui plus file selector) common to all versions.
BTW, I've been in contact with a DC coder which will take care of the port...
I'm only release dos version because I have troubles with allegro 3.9.33 version under windows and I screwed my linux box after a QNX installation :( so, linux binaries will come this week end and the win version as soon as a new allegro will be available or someone can provide me a 3.9.32- archive, sorry for convenience :( "
Please download this emulator from our TG16 Emu Section

The Company has updated their website about the SuperHLE! HEre is the post

""Any fool can criticise, condemn, and complain, and most fools do." - Benjamin Franklin
I have been fool. And the best way for me to apologize is to keep on working on both Supra Hle & InI files patches. I would like to thank all the people supporting me. As long as you guys appreciate our work, it'll be continued. I'll just make sure it is going to be tuff enuff to steal my work from now on :)
We'll keep on working on speed increase. I have located the main reason why Ultra Hle has some incredible slow downs and I'll try to fix it. Also, we've started working on the compatibility issues. I think that is what several end users are waiting for...

12/06/2000 - U64Emu 1.15 [Posted by DtK]

Two new versions of U64Emu (formerly Kiame) have been released. U64Emu is of course the emulator for the Killer Instinct arcade games and someday hopefully more games that ran on the Ultra64 cabinet. Here is what's new for both the new releases:

    New in 1.14:
  • Sound
  • '-' key or '=' key gets you into volume adjust mode.
  • '2' key enters test mode.
  • No more pointer and flashing window in fullscreen mode.
  • F5 starts/stops sound.
  • Scanline support. This works only in fullscreen 640x480.
  • FPS indicator is very different.
  • You are always locked to 60Hz.

    New in 1.15:
"This version fixes a big speed bug that crept into the earlier release. RCP says it was some kind of timing issue that only came up on fast machines. The 60hz lock has also been reactivated so people can adjust the speed a little more. Also RCP let me know that particle effects were fixed in version 1.14 as well! Enjoy :)"
Excellent. Yes excellent. The very nice KI emulator gets some very nice new changes. I hope you all enjoy this as I myself probably will. Congrats to RCP on his success. You can pick this up on our Multiple Arcade Emu Page.

12/06/2000 - DCPSX News [Posted by DtK]

Well I happened to be cruisin' some emulation websites (per usual) and I saw the DCPSX site got updated recently. DCPSX, if you can't tell by the name, is a Playstation emulator for the Dreamcast. Of course it's not being developed by the big guys over at bleem! but it looks like a cool project nonetheless. In many ways it may be better than bleem!cast because we'll probably see a release of this in the next millenium. Here is the latest:

"Well if your reading this you came to the right page. Infector's getting some pictures developed of the emu running some what of a game. Though as he syas the crontrols are still unresponsive and it runs at about 1% of the speed of a regular playstation game."
This is still unreleased and we'll keep you updated on it's progress.

12/06/2000 - More news from Mimicland [Posted by DtK]

The multi-platform emulator Mimic has been progressing very nice lately with SystemE emulation and what have you. Well Mike updated with some more progress, here it is:

"I finnaly found the bug in my Moon Cresta decryption. So thats now playable :)

I started adding 6502 support, but unfortunatly, that isn't too many raster games around that uses it :( Anyway, it will allow me to jump on a certain bandwagon later ;)

I also got a number of screenshots of Riddle sent to me by Gerald. Now I know what I am aiming for :) I can see that I am missing backgrounds and such...hmmm....."
Ah 'tis good news! I'm in a jolly mood for whatever reason, maybe it's the girl I like..yeah. Anyhow we'll keep you updated on Mimic, I personally am very much looking forward to a release!!

12/06/2000 - SadNES News [Posted by DtK]

As far as progress goes everyone is, and nicely so. SadNES is being converted from BASIC to C, which means good things come of it! Speed, mappers, sound, all the things we like! Hooray! Here is what the page said:

"SadNES 32 - This will be a PORT edition, me and Aeris will be working to PORT SadNES 32 from Visual Basic® to Borland Delphi !!!
Well, that means.. A LOT of SPEED increase !! And it may support SOUND EFFECTS and music as well, more mappers can come out easily...We will be using Delphi 5, if you want, you can help us out doing it ! just send a feedback.

Well, That's All for now.. by the way.. I will be working after December, 21... See you soon...

"Stay alert...I'll be back......." - Atomic"
There you have it. We'll be sure to keep you up to date on this.

Also, in other news, i am going to be out completely for the next couple days for recovery from having Wisdom Teeth extraction surgery. Also, be ready for a bit of news coming soon :)"
Excellent news and Atani good luck recooperating, let me know how it is because I believe I'm getting mine out in January.

12/07/2000 - MImic Updates [Posted by DarkMazda]

Mimic's website has been updated again today with a new pic of Riddle In-Game!! Here is the post

"Riddle in-game pic again. This time I got the background working. Now I just need to get the background and foreground appearing at the same time. Anyway, imagine the 3/12 pic on top of this one :) I worked out that Riddle's free play is different to the other two romsets. Probably due to the fact that a different compay was involved....whatever...

    Now for the good/bad news...
I have scored a lucrative contract (which is good). Problem is it is in Canberra (our capital city) and I need to go there ASAP ie. early flight tommorow :(
This means that I won't be able to work on Mimic nor update this site while I am out of town. At the moment, I am gonna we gone a week. So no updates until then, I won't even be able to answer email. MAYBE I can still do the ARH bit, who knows.
    Anyway, I'm outta here... "
Please visit Mimic's website.

12/07/2000 - Virtual Reality canceled :( [Posted by DarkMazda]

Wahhh!! Another emulator has been canceled today!! Virtual Reality's website has been updated with an update that says Virtual Reality has been permanantly canceled! Here is the post

    "
I'm sorry to announce that I've decided to quit writing a (public) Nintendo 64 emulator (reason will remain unsaid). This does not mean that Virtual Reality is cancelled. The goal of tbe Virtual Reality project will have some changes, the most important being that the final result won't be a Nintendo 64 emulator. If you're looking for a Nintendo 64 emulator you can check out TRWin, TR64, 1964, Apollo or Nemu (and the ones I've forgotten). I know I might have disappointed some people with this news, but I also think that it's nice to try something else. This is all I have to say right now. "
I am VERY VERY Sorry to hear this :(

12/07/2000 - FPSE new Plugin [Posted by DarkMazda]

FPSE's website has been updated yesterday saying that the new Plugin has been released! Here is the post

"This is a better version of SPUpsemu plugins.

Spupsemu: now it can be used for both interfaces. If you select a newer
plugin, then the new interface will selected for taking advantages of
    all extensions.

SpupsemuPRO: Now only plugin with newer interfaces are enumerated
    during configuration.
This will avoid crashes because a wrong selected plugin.
Attention: if when FPSE starts it prints on consolle "can't initialize
SPU", it's because you have forced an older interface. It may happen if
you switch to the PRO version without configuring it.
Simple solution: always configure the plugin before saving.

If you have a good machine, I suggest to use Spupsemu.
If you have a VERY low end PC (it's my case) then use SpupsemuPRO,
since it's smaller and a little faster.

I have done a mistake: not only SPUMIDAS has the new extensions, also
    SPUNULLs have them."
Please download it over at the Fpse's website.

12/07/2000 - Linux on Dreamcast! [Posted by DtK]

Specifically what I'm interested in seeing is something like a port of Doom on the Dreamcast! So if you know of any projects like this, games, utilities, whatever email me at deathtok@mediaone.net with your info. If you email me something you don't have I'll post info about the project and credit you for the find!

12/08/2000 - Genesis Project Updates! [Posted by DarkMazda]

Genesis Project has been updated with lots and lots of news

"Alex Slater's Herzog Zwei Manual is now finished for you, as with the Vectorman manual he sent in a couple of weeks ago, its quite large so it opens up in it's own browser window. You need to be in at least 800x600 to see it, and 1024x768 (or above) is really better.

Updated Herzog Zwei compatibility notes for Genecyst & KGen98. As it doesn't run particularly well in either emulator I also tested it in Gens and I'm happy to report it works just fine (& it's much more fun now I know what I'm doing!). I also used Gens to update the screenshots too. Whilst I was in the area I tidied up the table of contents for G-h to make navigation a little easier.

Alex has also submitted the manual for Comix Zone, which I'll try to add with the next update, and he tells me he's working on the manual for Dungeons and Dragons next.

Unfortunately with all the work on the manuals I haven't actually been able to get anything else done! The Comix Zone manual doesn't look like it will be as hard to prep. though so I'm hoping to be able to make some progress in other areas next week.

On a final note DezE is on holiday this week so there will be no one here to check any E-Mails for the next 8 days."

12/10/2000 - ePSXe 1.0.1 [Posted by DtK]

Well now that I have my head straight. And believe me it was not straight for a few hours. I'm happy to report a new version of ePSXe has come out. I would also like to take this time to thank PSXEmu for their wonderful installer. They have packed ePSXe, it's frontend, and all the plugins into a nice package. Thanks!! So here is the mega (god I love that word) release with a load of new features like this:

  • The MDEC engine has been completly re-written and a new CD-Rom plugin has been added, for Win9x as well as Win2k users. This increases the quality of the MDEC's nicely as well as giving some more speed. Fast machines should have absolutly smooth playback now. To get this, you should always enable the Mdec timing in the options. Additionally, the XA playback in the internal SPU plugin became better, so especially Squaresoft games are playing movie sounds better now.
  • The memory card manager has been improved : You can select which card you want to place in which slot now, and you can even convert the cards from other formats like Dexdrive, VGS, bleem! and PSEmu Pro. The memory cards are also saved now automaticly when pausing gameplay, so people shouldn't have problems with them any more.
  • Fixes for Win2k users, so most of them should be able to play games from CDs from now on, and don't have to use ISOs with ePSXe. To take advantage of those, it's highly recommend to use ePSXe's CD-Rom plugin (included in the 1.0.1 executeable).
  • Support for even more great (also many new !) games, like:
    • Final Fantasy 9 US
    • Grandia US
    • Driver 2 US
    • Crash Bash US
    • Harvest Moon - Back to Nature US
    • Fear Effect US
    • Castlevania SOTN US
    • Chrono Cross (the crashing bug, you can get around it by pressing F3)
    • and many more games since you're able to swap discs now (File -> Change discs)

  • Misc stuff, like support for PSX mouse and analog controllers (and even both together !), a better NTSC/PAL (or a manual if appreciated) detection and more.
Excellent release. I can't wait to load up Final Fantasy 9 in a few. I hope you guys enjoy the release you can pick it up on our PSX Emu Page.

12/11/2000 - Neopocott News [Posted by DtK]

I just happen to stroll over to Neopocott Lane to see the site has been updated with some nice news. That surprise port was revealed and aww...well you just read on:

"I am looking for people to port NeoPocott on new platforms. As for now the requirements are a 200Mhz device to achieve full speed and about 6MB RAM. The code is 100% C and using the portable architecture, easy to port to another platform. Especially, I am looking for a new BeOS porter because we do not have news from this side since a very long time...

NeoPocott is being ported to PS2 by Simon Singh ! More news soon...

Well, these days, the NeoPocott development team is quite busy with optimization stuff. Brian Peek, Voodoo, Colin Ward and I are currently working to optimize the common portable code so as all ports can get a huge speed increase. In the same way, Brian is focusing on specific DreamCast optimizations."
Excellent. Can't wait for the DC port myself!!

  • Performance advancements in sound and video handling.

12/15/2000 - Dreamer Progress! [Posted by DarkMazda]

Emulatronia post a Progress on Dreamer!! Here are some some stuffs that they are working on

  • CPU: Every opcode has been emulated, some incorrect opcodes have been fixed since the last version, although I think some of them are yet broken. Some arythmetical operation opcodes still don´t work correctly (90%).
  • FPU: I have rewritten the FPU code, avoiding SH4´s reference code, using just simple precission (anyway, double precission isn´t used anymore as it´s too slow), the most important opcodes (FADD,FMUL,FDIV,FSQRT, etc ) have already been tested and work properly. Though, it still smisses exceptions management.(75%).
  • DMA: It works more or less properly, though still slow. I haven´t had time to test it deeply. (50%).
  • Store Queues: They work 100% (well, maybe we´ll say 99%), the transferences to the Tile
  • Accelerator and to VRAM work properly.
  • Timers: I´m yet thinking how to emulate them. (-10%)
Please read the rest of the progress Here
